Dr. Hamed is a certified food scientist (CFS) by the institute of food technologists (IFT) leading the Scipertech team. He obtained a doctorate from McGill University in food processing, focusing on developing novel food products and processing techniques. He has successfully led +50 industrial projects in the field of food science, technology and engineering over the past 10 years.
He also has published +20 scientific papers in highly ranked ISI journals, written multiple reference books, and has been a speaker at numerous international conferences. Dr. Hamed is also serving as a referee in prestigious academic journals such as the journal of food engineering. He is a professional member of the Canadian Institute of Food Science and Technology (CIFST).
Dr. Hamed has participated in numerous other initiatives at McGill University, including the destruction of Clostridium botulinum in partnership with Health Canada and non-thermal food contamination prevention in collaboration with the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and the Quebec Food Processing Council (CTAQ). He earned the Charles Stumbo Award from the Institute of Thermal Processing Specialists (USA) in 2019 for his research article highlighting challenges connected to the industry’s practice and verification of pasteurization, as well as more honors and awards. Dr. Hamed has mentored over +35 Ph.D., M.Sc., and B.Sc. students and food industry professionals from a variety of nations and backgrounds who were eager to apply their knowledge in a multidisciplinary setting.
Dr. Hamed also joined the renowned Scipertech R&D business as a project manager following graduation, where he rose to the position of CEO and obtained excellent experience dealing with the current difficulties affecting both the food and beverage sectors and consumers.
